Pirate Treasure 2020 Announcement
Unfortunately, we will not be able to host Pirate Treasure at the Friends Center this year. The live event on September 19th will be cancelled.

The plan is as follows... we will hold a virtual drawing Via Facebook live on Saturday, December 5th.

We would like for everyone to participate in the virtual drawing.  However, we recognize not everyone will want to do that.

Free Meals For Students
On August 31, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Services announced nationwide waivers and extensions to the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).  These waivers and extensions will be through December 31, 2020 or until the funding runs out.

Effective Tuesday, September 8 the Wheelersburg Local Schools will provide a FREE breakfast and a FREE lunch to each student while the NSLP waivers and extensions last.  The cafeteria will still offer a la carte items for purchase.  In addition, each student will be offered a FREE breakfast and FREE lunch package during dismissal time to take home for the following day.  Students who are attending school 100% on-line are eligible for this FREE program and may arrange curb-side pick-up of their meals at school.

If you have any questions please contact Brenda Spires, Food Service Director, at 740-574-0462 or brenda.spires@wheelersburg.net

Watch Pirate Sports LIVE!
The Wheelersburg community has traditionally showed great support for our student athletes by always coming out to cheer on our Pirates.   With the current COVID-19 pandemic restricting attendance at all of our sporting events, Wheelersburg Local Schools will live stream ALL MIDDLE and HIGH SCHOOL HOME EVENTS for our community.

Some changes that you should take note of:
1. All students in Grades 4-12 will now participate in the 1:1 Chromebook program. It is very important that the technology forms are completed online so that every student will receive their Chromebook in a timely manner.

2. We have made a change to our online school meal payments and the Free and Reduced Lunch application. All previous year cafeteria balances have been carried over.

State Board of Education Recognizes WHS
Wheelersburg High School has been recognized by the State Board of Education and the Ohio Department of Education as a recipient of the 2019 Momentum Award.  The Momentum Award recognizes schools for exceeding expectations in student growth for the year. Schools must earn straight A’s on all Value-Added measures on the report card. The school or district must have at least two Value-Added subgroups of students, which includes gifted, lowest 20% in achievement, and students with disabilities.

Wheelersburg High School Principal Chris Porter stated, “There are a total of 48 districts and 173 schools recognized this year.  This is another example of the hard work and attention to detail that our teachers, students and staff are putting in on a daily basis.  It is also confirmation that our teachers and staff are focusing on the right improvement practices.  Thank you to everyone for helping make this award a reality for our school.  Congratulations!”

Important: Use OneView to update Student Information
Reminder to Parents -- Use the online Oneview Program to update your address and phone number changes.

Also, please use the OneView system to update your child's health records.  Have you taken your child to their physician lately?  Were prescriptions changed for your child? If yes, update their records on OneView.

This way the school will always have the most current information concerning your child. This is important.

Lastly, please remember to update your free and reduced lunch application or apply for free and reduced lunches if your income has changed or the number in your household has changed.

For more information, call  740-574-2527 or 740-574-8130 and ask for the guidance department.
