NHS Color Run
NHS is sponsoring a Color Run to benefit Potter's House Ministries. It will be held Saturday, April 28th, at 10:00 A.M. at the high school entrance. The cost is $15. Click here to access a registration form. 
The Girls' Track Team
The girls' track team won the Washington Court House Invitational. Event winners were:  Paige Emnett, Ellie Ruby, Libby Miller, Gabby Deacon, Alyssa Dingus, Kylan Canary, Lani Irwin, and Sydney White. 
Boys' Track
Boys' track placed 3rd at the Washington Court House Invitational Friday night. The 4x2 team of Dyer, Ruby, Matthews, and Nunley placed 1st. Reyes placed 1st in the 400. There were also several personal records. Dyer jumped 20 ft 11 in for 2nd place. 
News from Shawnee State University
The Student Life Department is hosting a College Night. Juniors and Seniors are invited to attend! You can register for free here!  We are still admitting students and will continue to award merit based scholarships. If you are a senior and have raised your ACT or SAT scores or a student who haven’t applied - you could still receive scholarships! We are still taking registrations for Showcase Day on Saturday, April 21.

Spring Extravaganza on Saturday, April 21
The Spring Extravaganza, sponsored by the band boosters, will be held Saturday, April 21, from 11 am to 4 pm, in the high school cafetorium. Some of the activities and happenings include lunch, snacks, craft vendors, a car show, and face painting. Entertainment throughout the day will be provided by the Wheelersburg band and chorus. Those interested in vendor information can call 740-250-4865. See the flyer for more details. 
Culture Fest
The annual Culture Festival, La Languera, will be held on Monday, May 14, from 6 – 8 pm, in the Wheelersburg High School cafetorium. Come experience cultures from all over the world! Enjoy free food, dancing, games, and view student projects! Admission is free.
 
Girls's Track News
The girls' track team won a five-team meet at Jackson on April 10, 2018. Ellie Ruby broke the school record with a long jump of 18 feet 7 inches. This is Ellie's second school record as she holds the record in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 44.86. Other event winners were: Paige Emnett, Lyndlee Willis, Libby Miller, Gabby Deacon, Lanie Irwin, Alyssa Dingus, Lauren Jolly, and Kylan Canary. 
Ellie Ruby Sets School Record for Long Jump!!!
Ellie Ruby set a school record for the long jump of 18 feet 7 inches at Jackson High school on April 10, 2018, breaking the record set by Becky Barnett in 1995. Congratulations Ellie!!!!
 
 
Art Students Submit Poster
Wheelersburg High School students Emily Phipps, Ren Bailey, and Gabby Deacon submitted Wheelersburg's poster in an art show in honor of the National Crime Victim's Rights Week. They were in attendance at the Scioto County Courthouse with Wheelersburg High School's art teacher Kelly Emmons. Great job! Watch the WSAZ video clip on the right.    
State Testing Schedule - April 16-20

Congratulations Rohit!!
Rohit Kataria recently participated in the Buckeye Science & Engineering Fair (BSEF) held at COSI in Columbus. There were 77 high school students from around the state selected to participate at this competition. Only 11 were selected to advance to the afternoon rounds. Five of those 11 were chosen to advance to represent Ohio in the International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF). Rohit was chosen as an alternate to go to ISEF which will be held at Pittsburgh  in May.  Congratulations Rohit!!
 
Girls' Track
The girls' track team won the 19 team Southeastern Invitational. Ellie Ruby set meet records in three events.   
Boys' Tennis
Congratulations on the win over Valley 4-1. The team record is now 3-1.   
The Honda-Ohio State Partnership STEM Award
Congratulations to Caleb Varacalli who has been awarded the Honda-Ohio State Partnership STEM Award. The Honda-Ohio State Partnership is an academic-industry partnership that supports programs in education research and public service that positively impacts the transportation industry.

Go to balfour.com to order the 2017-2018 Wheelersburg High School yearbook. Parents of the students in the 2018 graduating class can also add a personal ad for their senior student while ordering their book. 
Volley With Varsity
Free clinic! Girls in grades 4th-7th are welcome to come join the Wheelersburg girls’ varsity team to learn and improve their volleyball skills! Activities will include drills, games and team bonding! All girls interested are welcome. We will meet in the girls’ locker room after school on the dates listed. Be changed and ready to go by 3:00!  Dates:  March 26, April 9, April 23, & May 7.  
Cheerleading 2018-2019
Congratulations to the following girls who have been chosen to represent the Varsity Cheerleading team: Kiara Tilley, Sarah Claxon, Kylan Canary, Macy Conley, Sydney Chamberlin, Emma Dempsey, Bella Williams, Reilly O'Leary, Alyssa Dingus, Raelen Perry, Kelsee Hale, and Mikayla Horton. Also, another congratulations to the following girls who have been chosen to represent the JV Cheerleading team: Jenna Brabson, Alaina Marsh, Rylee Eldridge, Audrey Warner, Kylan Darnell, Natalie Brammer, Carly Stapleton, Carly Young, Josi Whitley, and Josie Nchinda.  
Scioto County Juried High School Art Show
Congratulations to our student artists. Wheelersburg High School had 10 pieces accepted into the "Visually Literate, Scioto County Juried High School Art Show." The exhibit will be on display at Shawnee State University's Appleton Gallery May 9 to May 17, with the closing reception and awards ceremony happening on May 17 at 5:30 pm with awards at 6:00 pm. Emily Phipps and Gabby Deacon each had two pieces accepted. Allison Mullins, Allison McKenzie, Annie Davis, Trisha Patel, Marissa Halter, and Jordan Jennings all had one piece accepted. Congratulations to all.   
Ecosystem in a Bottle
  Mrs. Blevins' Science class created an "Ecosystem in a Bottle" project to explore biotic and abiotic factors within a pond ecosystem.   
Science Bowl
Congratulations to the Science Bowl Teams and Mr. Boll! Wheelersburg had two teams compete in the 32-team Regional Science Bowl. Team 2 finished first in their 4-team pool play and made it to the quarterfinals before losing to Notre Dame. They finished with a 5-1 record. Team 2 members are Logan Clifford, Will Whitley, Austin Meyers, Pete Newman, and Kate Gilmore.                                                                                                                 
Quiz Bowl Scioto County Champs!
From Mr. Oakes - Scioto County Tournament Champs!! The team played really well. They answered questions on the Constitution, state senators, books and authors, mathematical equations, periodic table, famous paintings, Latin America, computers, presidents, famous wars and battles....and after all of that, it was Seth Pertuset’s hockey knowledge that sealed the deal for the final victory! Needless to say, it was a great evening for WHS academics. The kids are really excited. Congratulate them when you see them and wish them well with the science bowl. Congratulations to the team and Mr. Oakes!!    
American Legion
Carson McCorkle and Haylie Vaughn were the two students chosen to lay the wreath this year on the American Legion trip! Students are randomly selected.
