Rohit Kataria Receives Excellent Rating
Congratulations to Rohit Kataria on receiving an "Excellent" rating at the State Science Fair on May 12th.  Rohit's project was "Addressing the Problem of Proton Pump Inhibitor Overuse in Hospitals." He earned the Future Physician-Scientst Award-2nd place. 
 
Track News
Ellie Ruby is now a 2 TIME STATE CHAMPION! She won the Division 3 Girls Long Jump State Championship with a jump of 18’6.5”.  Paige Emmett finished 6th in the State of Ohio Division 3 in Girls' Shot Put with a throw of 40’2”. Congratulations to both! 
Wheelersburg High School Earns Silver Award
In the U.S. News and World Report May issue, Wheelersburg High School is ranked No. 1,306 in the national rankings, and earned a silver award. Schools are ranked based on their performance on state-required tests and how well they prepare students for college. According to the magazine, students have the opportunity to take advanced placement course work and exams. The AP participation rate at Wheelersburg High School is 50 percent. The student body makeup is 50 percent male and 50 percent female.  Daily Times News Article

For boys entering grades 3-8 NEXT school year
Cost:  $40 ($5 discount for multiple campers in the same residence)
Each camper receives a T-shirt and a daily beverage
Instruction from Wheelersburg Basketball coaching staff and players

Art Show Winners
Visually Literate, the Scioto County High School Art Show, held its awards ceremony at The Vern Riffe Center at Shawnee State University. Allison Mullins, Allison McKenzie, Marissa Halter, Annie Davis, Jordan Jennings, and Trisha Patel all had one piece of work accepted into the show. Emily Phipps and Gabby Deacon both had two pieces in the show. Emily Phipps won a $275 dollar scholarship and honorable mention.  Gabby Deacon won a 1st place and a 2nd place ranking.  Marissa Halter won a 1st place.  Allison McKenzie won a 3rd place and the drawing for $150  worth of art supplies  Trisha Patel won honorable mention  Congratulations!   Pictures of the art show winners can be found at the right. 
Tennis Division II Champion
Drew Jackson is the Boys' Tennis Division II Southeast District Champion. He will be competing in the state tournament on Friday, May 25th, in Mason, Ohio. Congratulations Drew!

Memory Project
Local art students have joined the Memory Project, a charitable nonprofit organization that invites art students to donate portraits to youth around the world who have faced substantial challenges, such as neglect, abuse, loss of parents, violence, and extreme poverty. This video tells more about the project.

Wheelersburg High School has been selected as the #48 Best High School in Ohio according to U.S. News & World Report.

Go to balfour.com to order the 2017-2018 Wheelersburg High School yearbook. Parents of the students in the 2018 graduating class can also add a personal ad for their senior student while ordering their book.

Boys' Track
Boys' track placed 3rd at the Washington Court House Invitational Friday night. The 4x2 team of Dyer, Ruby, Matthews, and Nunley placed 1st. Reyes placed 1st in the 400. There were also several personal records. Dyer jumped 20 ft 11 in for 2nd place. 
Girls's Track News
The girls' track team won a five-team meet at Jackson on April 10, 2018. Ellie Ruby broke the school record with a long jump of 18 feet 7 inches. This is Ellie's second school record as she holds the record in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 44.86. Other event winners were: Paige Emnett, Lyndlee Willis, Libby Miller, Gabby Deacon, Lanie Irwin, Alyssa Dingus, Lauren Jolly, and Kylan Canary. 
Ellie Ruby Sets School Record for Long Jump!!!
Ellie Ruby set a school record for the long jump of 18 feet 7 inches at Jackson High school on April 10, 2018, breaking the record set by Becky Barnett in 1995. Congratulations Ellie!!!!
 
 
Art Students Submit Poster
Wheelersburg High School students Emily Phipps, Ren Bailey, and Gabby Deacon submitted Wheelersburg's poster in an art show in honor of the National Crime Victim's Rights Week. They were in attendance at the Scioto County Courthouse with Wheelersburg High School's art teacher Kelly Emmons. Great job! Watch the WSAZ video clip on the right.
 
 
Congratulations Rohit!!
Rohit Kataria recently participated in the Buckeye Science & Engineering Fair (BSEF) held at COSI in Columbus. There were 77 high school students from around the state selected to participate at this competition. Only 11 were selected to advance to the afternoon rounds. Five of those 11 were chosen to advance to represent Ohio in the International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF). Rohit was chosen as an alternate to go to ISEF which will be held at Pittsburgh  in May.  Congratulations Rohit!!
 
Girls' Track
The girls' track team won the 19 team Southeastern Invitational.
Ellie Ruby set meet records in three events. 
 
Boys' Tennis
Congratulations on the win over Valley 4-1. The team record is now 3-1.   
The Honda-Ohio State Partnership STEM Award
Congratulations to Caleb Varacalli who has been awarded the Honda-Ohio State Partnership STEM Award. The Honda-Ohio State Partnership is an academic-industry partnership that supports programs in education research and public service that positively impacts the transportation industry. 

 
Volley With Varsity

Free clinic! Girls in grades 4th-7th are welcome to come join the Wheelersburg girls’ varsity team to learn and improve their volleyball skills! Activities will include drills, games and team bonding! All girls interested are welcome. We will meet in the girls’ locker room after school on the dates listed. Be changed and ready to go by 3:00!  Dates:  March 26, April 9, April 23, & May 7.
