Parents' Night Agenda 2017-2018
Parents' Night will be held on August 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Freshman Orientation for Class of 2021
Students only need to attend one session. All students who attend will receive a complimentary ticket to attend a Varsity Athletic Game this school year.
Parents are also encouraged to attend, but it is not mandatory. Call the High School office at 740-574-2527 if you have questions.  
New Courses Added
The following courses will be added to the 2017-2018 schedule. 
ACT Prep, BUIS 1010, and BUMG 1010.

High school yearbooks should be ordered
at the Balfour website.

CCP, AP Test, ACT, Scholarships, Peer/Math Tutoring
College Credit Plus (for next school year)
- Students interested in College Credit Plus for next year (including students taking ENGL1101 and/or ENGL1105 at the high school) must attend a College Credit Plus meeting with a parent/guardian, complete the CCP college application, complete the reimbursement form, complete the intent form, and be accepted to a college based on ACT scores or placement test scores. Intent forms are due April 1. College applications have their own deadlines. Once you are accepted, bring a copy of your acceptance letter to the guidance office.

Congratulations to Tennis and Track
The boys' tennis team was victorious over Valley and Gallia Academy.
In girls' track, event winners at the Portsmouth meet were Estep, Willis, Ruby, Washington, Bivens, Page and Alyssa Emnett, Saltsman, Canary, Dingus, Deacon, White, Irwin, and Tilley.
 
Congratulations Girls' Track
Congratulations to the girls' track team for finishing 3rd in the 15 team Ironton Invitational. Event winners were:  Alyssa Emnett, Sydney White, Gabby Deacon, and Lani Irwin.  
Congratulations to Rohit Kataria
Congratulations to Rohit Kataria for his achievements in the District Science Day at Rio Grande University. He received a Superior Rating to advance to the State Science Fair on May 13 at The Ohio State University. He received an award called the Rio Emerging Scientist Award in Medicine and Science and earned $50. He also qualified to participate in the HS Buckeye Science & Engineering Fair (BSEF) on April 1 at OSU. Congratulations Rohit!! 
Congratulations to the Quiz Bowl Team!
Congratulations to the Quiz Bowl Team for winning the County Tournament. They will now advance to the Regional Tournament. 
Congratulations to the Science Bowl Team
Congratulations to Mr. Boll and the Science Bowl team on winning the Regional Competition on Friday. They will compete in the Nationals in D.C. April 27 - May 1. The school also received a $1000.00 check for Science supplies.
Makayla Akers Signs with Alice Lloyd
Congratulations Makayla Akers for signing a letter of intent to play college basketball at Alice Lloyd.

 
Congratulations to Band!
Congratulations to the concert band for their performance this weekend. The band received the highest possible rating of a superior and have qualified for the state contest. 
Art Show
Congratulations to Hanna Cox who won Best of Show and to Gabby Deacon who received an Honorable Mention at the Tri-State High School Juried Art Show at Ohio University Southern. The show will be open for viewing through March 3.

Congratulations to the following students for having their artwork accepted in the Seventh Annual Tri-State High School Juried Art Show at Ohio University Southern.

Hanna Cox and Gabby Deacon both had three pieces accepted.

Marty Roe, Chase Greco, Caleb Browning, Taylor Worthington, Emily Phipps, and Moriah Knight all had one piece accepted.

American Legion Americanism and Government State Winners
Congratulations to Taylor McQuay and Michael Spradlin. Both are state winners on the American Legion Americanism and Government test.
 
Quiz Bowl
Congratulations to the Quiz Bowl team and Mr. Oakes for earning first place in the county league! The team was undefeated for the season as well. 
 
Mock Trial Results
In Mock Trial competition on January 20, 2017, although the team fell short of qualifying for the next round, the participants won the afternoon trial and swept the awards in that trial. Ashley Smith won the Outstanding Attorney Award, and McKenzie England won the Outstanding Witness Award.

Homecoming January 21, 2017

Wheelersburg High School Basketball Homecoming will take place Saturday, January 21 when the Pirates host South Point. The Homecoming ceremony will take place between the JV and Varsity games. The Homecoming theme is “Empire State of Mind”.
