Class Changes

If you would like to request a class change, reply to this email.  If you want to drop a College Prep, Advanced Placement, or College Credit Plus course, you will need to bring in a signed parent note.  The last day to change a high school class is Wednesday, August 28.  College Credit Plus courses use the drop date of the college/university.

School Supplies

After you receive your schedule, check teacher webpages for a list of school supplies needed for each course.

College Credit Plus – Fall Semester

If you are taking a fall CCP class on a college campus or online, send me a copy of your CCP schedule so books can be ordered.  Once books are ready, you will be notified by email that you may pick up your books.

College Credit Plus – Summer Session

If you took a summer College Credit Plus course, please return your books as soon as your class is complete.

The Common Application

Seniors – The Common Application is now available.  Nearly 900 colleges and universities use this application including Ohio University, The Ohio State University, Miami University, and Marshall University.  Go to www.commonapp.org to apply.

Juniors and seniors – The South Central Ohio Educational Service Center is offering a mentorship program.  Participants must have a 3.0 grade point average, submit the  completed application by September 3, complete the Focus 2 online Assessment by August 30 and attend the mandatory Wednesday, October 2, orientation meeting held at the ESC (located at the old New Boston High School) from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.  Mentorship is a four hour session with a professional in his/her chosen field.

Scioto County Teen Court

The Scioto County Teen Court is a diverse program aimed at reducing juvenile delinquency in the county.  The Teen Court members learn about the constitution, responsibility, and respecting the rights of others.  Members have the opportunity to participate in real cases while filling the role of prosecutor, defense attorney, judge, baliff, clerk, and jurors.  See Mrs. Davis for an application.  The application deadline is August 30.

ACT

The ACT will be given on October 26.  The regular registration deadline is September 20.  The late registration deadline is October 4.  Juniors and seniors who receive free or reduced lunch are able to receive two fee waivers to take the test for free.  See Mrs. Davis for a fee waiver.  Students who receive accommodations should see Mrs. Davis to apply for accommodations on the ACT.

College Credit Plus Reminders

  • If you arrive after 7:45 or leave before 2:45, you must sign in/out in the front office.
  • Check your Wheelersburg high school email for updates.
  • At the end of the semester, return books to the guidance office.
  • If Wheelersburg High School is on an adjusted schedule (early dismissal, 2 hour delay, performance schedule, etc.), you are required to be here unless you are in class at the college.  If you miss a high school class because you are in class at the college during a high school adjusted schedule day, see Mrs. Davis so the absence does not count against you.
  • If you arrive early, you must stay in the office until it is time to go to your high school class.
  • If you took any Advanced Placement tests and would like to receive college credit, you must send AP scores directly to the college.
  • The drop date for college courses, including the ones offered at the high school, is determined by the college.
  • CCP students must park in the student parking lot.
  • All students should attend the opening meeting with Mr. Porter on the first day of school unless you are in class at the college.
  • CCP courses will be added to your high school transcript and your college transcript.
  • Students who need to take End of Course exams or the ACT will need to speak to Mrs. Davis to schedule these tests.
  • If you have an IEP or a 504 Plan, you must send this information to the college.  Colleges will not accept these from high school employees.

Senior Incentive Option Reminders
