Wheelersburg Schools partners with Lighthouse Youth Services

August 28, 2017

Students and Parents,

The Wheelersburg Schools are happy to announce our partnership with Lighthouse Youth Services for the 2017-2018 school year. Lighthouse Youth Services (LYS) is a non-profit multiservice agency providing social services to students and families in southwestern and southern Ohio. Operating since 1969, LYS is nationally recognized as an innovator in services for families in crisis.

LYS will be providing school based services at Wheelersburg Schools. This means an experienced LYS staff member, who is an Ohio licensed social worker or counselor, will be present every day in the schools to assist and counsel students with challenging behavioral or mental health issues. Their mission is to advance the dignity and well-being of children, youth and families in need.

Anyone, teachers, parents, administrators and staff members may refer a student to LYS through the school guidance counselor. The referral forms are available from each school counselor. All students are encouraged to contact your school counselor, a teacher or principal if you need assistance or have additional questions. You may contact:

Aimee Hall, Wheelersburg Elementary School Counselor, 574-8130;

Barry Spradlin, Wheelersburg Middle School Counselor, 574-2515;

Rebecca Davis, Wheelersburg High School Counselor, 574-2527.

While the Wheelersburg Schools will continue to offer traditional counseling services to students, we recognize some of our students and families need additional social services. We are hopeful that our mission, “to ensure the highest quality education and to prepare all students for their future through an innovative, diverse and safe learning environment” will be fulfilled through this partnership with Lighthouse Youth Services.

Sincerely,

Mark Knapp
