Mr. Joe Diamond

Mr. DiamondHello, my name is Joe Diamond. I am the Director of Bands here at the Wheelersburg Local School District, where I direct the Pirate Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Middle School Bands. Welcome to my teacher webpage!

A little about myself: I am a driven and passionate teaching professional committed to personal and musical excellence. I hold high expectations for my students as well as myself. My focus is on individual growth, intrinsic motivation, leadership, and teamwork. I believe a commitment to music should be a relevant, rewarding, enjoyable experience.

I am a graduate of the Ohio University School of Music in Athens, OH, where I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education. I completed my professional internship at the Athens City School District in Athens and The Plains, OH, and I am certified to teach music to grades PK-12. I have experience managing my own private trombone studio. I am also a seasoned music arranger, having written several pieces for many diverse ensembles at Ohio University and abroad. I have experience as an audition adjudicator and low-brass clinician for the OMEA District 17 Honor Band. I have worked several band camps, including Lakewood High School and Athens High School. I am also an alumnus of the Ohio University Marching 110, and I am very knowledgeable of various marching band techniques and pedagogies, including both show style and competition style marching bands.

I believe music, and the arts in general, are such an important contributing factor to a school’s culture, not to mention the individual benefits in academic achievement and well-roundedness. These are values I wish to continue cultivating here at Wheelersburg!
